Deciding Between Blinds And Curtains

Deciding between curtains and blinds is not an easy task, cinsidering many benefits both of them offer. Both of these window treatments have their disadvantages and advantages and your personal preference will ultimately decide which one of these two will be the best choice for your home interior decoration. Traditional choice are curtains, it’s what most people thinks. Their fantastic decorative look while providing the privacy for your home is not something to forget about. Additionally, since curtains are available in virtually any color and in most any style you can imagine, you are certain to find curtains for every last window in every last room.

Window curtains are a great choice for our decoration because of their style, but they have some disadvantages too. Curtains offer little or no privacy when compared to blinds. And when we remember how much time we need to wash and dry them, we realize that much time is spent on these tasks. The things is, we have to do it. Curtains will quickly lose their attractiveness if we do not wash them from time to time.

Blinds are another way we can choose to go. You can adjust the shutters the way it suits you best and allow certain amount of light and privacy. You have a lot of choices when it comes to color with blinds, but not as much as you have with curtains. On the other side, you can adjust the blinds with the slat angles and let the breeze and light in or reduce them completely. You will also be able to clean th blinds while they are still on the window frame.

Teacher Student Ratio Can Help High School Students Achieve

by Dave Delgado

How many of us can look back and think that we may not have reached our full potential in life? What if we had done better in school? What if we had gone to a better college?

The predominant attitude in today’s public schools has created a culture in which 16-year-olds are deciding they aren’t going to go to college. They think the material will be too difficult. They think they don’t have the necessary skills. They lack confidence in their own ability to learn and grow in an academic environment. They aren’t qualified to make the right decisions!

A lot has been said about the importance of small class size and individual attention in our schools. But small class size is only the beginning. The best high schools have not only smaller classes, which allow for more individual attention-they have highly qualified teachers who teach more challenging material.

AP courses, created by the College Board, have been around for fifty years. These are certified college-level courses that are taught in high schools. Their popularity has grown over the years, and they have become an essential part of the high school portfolio for anyone wishing to apply to a four year college or university. Many parents feel that these classes and their high expectations put too much pressure on young children, still in high school. But that isn’t how it was meant to be.

When approached the right way, these courses may in fact be a very good opportunity. The downside is that most high schools that offer these courses still pack 20 to 30 students into the class. So instead of being a positive opportunity, many students simply struggle with the work. On the other hand, when these courses are taught by experienced professionals in smaller classes - classes with only 8 to 10 students per teacher, each student gets the opportunity to be successful in a college level course.

A taste of this success is sometimes all it takes to turn a student’s life around. Students at the best private high schools, such as Cambrian International Academy, have stated in many cases that the first class made them feel as if they could accomplish anything. They take more of these classes in subsequent years, and then find themselves accepted to top universities in advanced standing. The AP credit transfers, and they start college as sophomores!

Now, 16-year-olds have more reason to make an informed decision about college.

Outsourcing F&A, Bookkeeping, and Customer Service

In a day and age where everyone is moving to customer service outsourcing programs, what kind of changes would the customers like to see? After all, customer service outsourcing is something that is here to stay, because of the low cost and the easy manageability. However, due to the lack of poor quality, the amount of these customer service outsourcing programs that fail is very high. It appears right now what customers want to see is better quality. They want people that can understand them and that they can understand perfectly. And they want knowledgeable people when they call customer service. Although this is something that is going to take time, they are working on it right now as we speak. One day this dream of perfect customer service outsourcing will come true.

One of the top functions that large companies like to outsource is F&A (Finance and Accounting). Companies like to outsource their bookkeeping. This is because the language barrier is not so apparent and not so much of a problem. Math is math no matter what the language. So finance and accounting functions can be moved to another country where labor costs are lower potentially creating a huge savings for the company.

The way that F&A outsourcing is increasing today, it is easy to see how it could become very big in the very near feature. It is much easier for these big time businesses to pass some of these functions off to the F&A outsourcing groups than it is for them to do it in house. These F&A outsourcing groups are becoming more willing to take on bigger and bigger responsibilities. Of course, it’s not just the big time businesses that are doing it anymore. The smaller businesses are doing it as well. Over time we are going to see more and more smaller businesses starting to do this, as well as more and more start up businesses. With such an increase like this, only time will tell where F&A outsourcing will land and if it will ever stop.

Tips for a Productive Commute

Do you have a half hour or longer commute? If so, you may feel like you’re wasting 5 hours a week with the task of driving. Many people do unsafe things like talking on a cellphone, text messaging, even reading the newspaper while they drive. Why? To regain some of that lost time. But there are plenty of safer ways to get something accomplished while you’re stuck in traffic.

Relax. This ought to be the easiest one, but sometimes isn’t. Turn on some music, drive a little slower and just use the time to relax. Remind yourself that everybody needs a little down time, so that’s productive, too. You’ll probably find this a lot easier to do part of the time, if you do something else at other times, so here are a few ideas.

  • Listen to an audiobook. Whether it’s just the novel you don’t have time to read or a business book to help your career or finances.
  • Brush up on a foreign language. Publishers like Pimsleur and Berlitz offer CDs, tapes and even downloadable MP3s specifically designed for learning a language while you drive. Here’s a useful skill that also helps sharpen the brain generally.
  • Listen to news or talk radio. No matter your interest, there’s probably a talk radio program available to fit - from personal advice to pets to cars to cigars, talk radio is about a lot more than just current events. (Just remember when you’re ready to call in to a talk radio program that the number 4 tip in my list of 12 tips for calling a talk radio show is “don’t use a cellphone!” Wait for the phone call until you’re out of the car.)

With an impressive ride, new technology and value in the sticker price and at the pump, the 2009 Ford Focus is a mainstay in the compact car segment that can certainly compete with the best of them.

Restyled just last year, response has continued to remain strong for the Focus. Available in a sedan or coupe body style, a variety of trim levels are available to meet a diverse set of driver needs. A 140-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 136 pound-feet of torque is more than sufficient strength for the purposes of this vehicle. Available in a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, buyers can also take full advantage of a sport-tuned suspension upgrade for increased quickness in acceleration.

Small-car seekers are pleased with the amenities offered in the Focus, with distinguishing features in comparison to fellow competitors like the Chevrolet Cobalt, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. Exterior accents like power mirrors, rear spoilers and chrome tail pipe are worthwhile details sure to add to your vehicle. Fuel economy is very strong as well, with 24 MPG city and 33-35 MPG highway sure to stretch your hard-earned dollars in terms of desirable gas mileage.

The Ford Focus 2009 excels in getting drivers where they want and need to go. And the driving experience furthers that goal, with smooth steering and handling that previous year’s models were known for. Transmission shifts are gradual, even on steeper terrains. On the highway, road and wind noise are minimal for a segment that must always be aware of the outside elements and their effect on a compact vehicle. The automaker’s patented Sync system, in partnership with Microsoft, allows for hands-free voice-recognition control of phone and other music player devices.

Safety remains a Ford staple, with the Focus showcasing six airbags as standard, including front-seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags for both front- and rear-seat occupants. Antilock brakes and stability control are optional and worthwhile additions on all trim levels. Government crash tests earned this superbly secure car four stars for its protection of front occupants in head-on collisions and five stars on the side-impact test.

An excellent choice for the smaller coupe or sedan class, the 2009 Ford Focus is a fitting combination sure to be in the winner’s circle of many car-buying decisions this year.

What is VOIP Service and Why You Need To Switch to VOIP

“Voice over Internet Protocol” or VoIP is technology that lets you make and receive phone calls over the Internet as an online service. VoIP is often used abstractly to refer to the actual transmission of voice (rather than the protocol implementing it).

VoIP is clearly identified as a Least Cost Routing (LCR) voice routing system, which is based on checking the destination of each telephone call as it is made, and then sending the call via the network that will cost the customer the least. VoIP is widely employed by carriers, especially for international telephone calls.

VoIP is a core technology that drives everything from voice-chat software loaded on a desktop PC to Mac full-blown IP-based telecommunications networks in large corporations. VoIP is gaining popularity among small business owners for good reasons: It costs less than conventional business phone service, often a lot less. VOIP is now a mature proven technology that until now had only been implemented in large corporations and businesses where it has been deployed on their internal Networks.

VOIP is presently the state of the art in business communications. VoIP is benefiting from consumer interest in bundled services from their cable companies as well. VoIP is techspeak for “voice over Internet protocol,” but it could spell “saving big bucks” for your business. VoIP is especially popular with long-distance calls. Voip is significantly less expensive than typical telephone long distance packages, plus one high speed Internet connection can serve for multiple phone lines with no loss in functionality, reliability, or voice quality and VoIP is great for travelers.

The Best VoIP Company for you really does depend on your needs and how you will use the telephone service. VoIP is no longer a technical novelty, but a real business for a growing number of for-profit organizations that sell and service and VoIP connectivity. VoIP is a revolutionary technology that has the potential to completely rework the world’s phone systems.

VoIP is cheaper because it unregulated and uses low-cost commodity networking, and the infrastructure is subsidized by cable TV and POTS subscribers who are paying too much. The primary reason for migrating to VoIP is cost, as it equalizes the costs of long distance calls, local calls, and e-mails to fractions of a penny per use. A key point to remember is that VoIP is built on already established equipment and applications. As an added bonus, it’s also cheaper, because VoIP is free of the endless government regulations and tariffs imposed upon phone companies.

Yellowfin Tuna, Pasta gift Basket and Balsamic Vinegar of Modena

Recently, I’ve discovered an interesting store offering a wide variety of exotic spices, foods and more. It’s CyberCucina.

Among the items offered:

  • Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. A variety of containers labeled Balsamic Vinegar can be stumbled upon in most grocery stores. However, there is balsamic vinegar and then there is Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. One need not be a chef or connoisseur to tell them apart because the difference in taste is readily apparent.
  •

  • Pasta Gift Basket.

Quoting directly from the CyberCucina web site:

We believe pasta is one of the most versatile food products available. With all of its shape variations and the myriad of sauce combinations, the possiblilities are practically endless.

Our Gourmet Pasta Sampler offers some familiar and some quite unique pasta cuts to enjoy. We begin with Croxetti, pasta discs in the shape of coins each stamped with a stalk of wheat. They are wonderful with substantial sauces such as pesto or walnut sauce.

Next we offer Troffiette. This thin, tight twist shaped pasta has the appearance of being hand rolled and then “pinched” at each end. It is commonly served with basil pesto or walnut pesto since its twisted shape holds these sauces nicely.

Trofiette is also delicious when served with fresh seasonal vegetables like green beans or spinach served with pancetta or potatoes in a rich meat based broth. Try trofiette with butter and fresh herbs served with a meaty fish or with shellfish.

Gnocchi are similar to potato dumplings. They are elegant served with a butter-sage sauce, and rustic and homey with a tomato based sauce.

Farro is an excellent grain which is a precursor of wheat and much easier to digest. It has a bit of a nutty flavor but works well with most sauce preparations. We offer two cuts of Farro pasta—Rigatini and Pizzichi.

We complete our selection with two small cuts of pasta which work well with soups as well as salads—Orzo, which is very similar to rice, and Fregola Sarda which is a bit like a large grain couscous.

The entire pasta collection is presented in a beribboned gift box and suits any gift-giving occasion.

  • Yellowfin Tuna

Tonnino tuna fillets with garlic in olive oil Offer a versatile alternative as the main ingredient in a salad, combined with rice or pasta as a main dish, or simply enjoyed as a canapé on soda crackers or toast.

Tuna is an excellent source of high quality protein, and is rich in a variety of important nutrients including minerals such as selenium, magnesium, and potassium; the B vitamins niacin, B1 and B6; and perhaps most importantly, the beneficial omega-3 essential fatty acids. In addition, our tuna is preserved in Olive Oil, another excellent dietary choice.

Tonnino tuna is wild caught, dolphin safe and hand packed in glass jars without preservatives, additives, or fillers.

Each jar of Tonnino Tuna Fillets with Garlic in Olive Oil contains 6.7oz. or 190g.

Call 1-800-796-0116 or visit our home page here for more information.

I’ve found this to be a delightful online store with a wide variety of offerings. I’m sure you’ll enjoy and appreciate it as well.

Ten Tips for Travelers to Hawaii on Business

Business travel to Hawaii is a great opportunity to take advantage of your surroundings while the company foots the bill. In between your business meetings and presentations, you can soak up the rays and see a few sights- if you can keep on schedule and keep to your work schedule.

Business travel to Hawaii can be made easier with a few tips to save you time and money so you can work in a few hours of rest and relaxation.

Tips for Business Travel to Hawaii

1. If you are going to Hawaii from outside of the United States, keeping extra copies of your passport on hand will speed up your trip through customs. Once the customs agent verifies that the copy matches your original passport, you are waved through without waiting for the agent to make his own copy. Keep your passport, tickets and receipts in the same place.

2. Carry your laptop with you. If needed, your wireless laptop can access the airport’s WI-FI network to make last minute flight changes, locate a hotel room or secure a rental car. This can save you from standing in line to make changes should your flight be delayed or cancelled. Bring along your laptop’s charger so you plug in while waiting for your fight.

3. Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight. Airport security is tight and may cause delays in boarding. If you are one of the first passengers boarding the plane, you are less likely to be bumped from an overbooked flight.

4. Re-book your seats and print out the confirmation to verify your seat purchase. This can help straighten out any confusion over the airline’s flawed booking system and get your boarded faster.

5. You can request a specific seat upon check-in. You can request for a seat near the exit or bathroom or far away from the noisy galley and heavily travelled path to the restrooms allows you to work during the flight without needless distractions.

6. Plan your travel route from the airport to your destination before leaving home and get an approximate estimate of the cost of the cab fare. Keep this cash handy and make sure the cabbie does not give you the scenic tour.

7. Pack for only half of the days you will be staying in Hawaii and take advantage of the hotel’s laundry service.

8. Roll up your socks and place them inside your shoes to increase the room on your luggage and keep your shoes from crushing blows by baggage handlers.

9. Call your hotel before packing and inquire what items the hotel provides. Most hotels provide a hair dryer, iron, and coffee maker in the room.

10. Keep in mind that Hawaii weather is very mild, but November is the rainy season. Pack your swimsuit, a rain jacket, umbrella, and dress for warm weather.

These tips for business travel to Hawaii will help your trip go smoothly and free up a few extra moments to experience the Hawaii sights and scenery during your trip.

Really? A Free Laptop?

Yes, really.

In this day and age, with laptop and all computer prices continuing to get lower and lower many companies are now giving away free laptops. In light of this, many people do take advantage of these offers and get themselves a full fledged, brand new notebook computer for absolutely no cost.

Often, to get a free laptop all it really takes is to fill out a simple form. Some others will ask that you fill out a survey or complete alternate offers but really - considering that some laptops start out at around three hundred dollars and can cost in the thousands then the cost of filling out a few forms with a little information to get a free laptop is actually a very reasonable price (many times all that is asked for is your information, sure, they’ll send you advertising and the like but really…you’re getting a free computer out of it so what the heck right?).

Some people worry that when they hear about getting a free laptop that it’s another case of ‘if it is too good to be true then it probably is’. Well, it’s absolutely true that people are getting notebook computers for absolutely nothing. These aren’t just garbage brand laptops either, these are brand name laptops with histories of being great computers.

So, if you’re worried that your free laptop is going to be of sub-par quality…don’t be. They’re the same computers being sold in the stores and online. Don’t hesitate, find a site that’s making the offer and go out and get your laptop for free.  As previously stated, it’s usually quite simple and a painless and many times you may be able to even find more than one offer: meaning, you may be able to get more than one for completely no cost.

Do you sometimes dream about six pack abs

We all desire to have six pack abs. Unfortunately, people seldom stick to the end. There are many reasons for this. The main reason is they do not know how to get there. Many of them have no clue of what to do and where to start from to achieve their goal. They don’t even have any good trainer who can guide them.

The other reason is lack of determination. Those who have the right knowledge about achieving six pack abs, even they sometimes fail to achieve their goal. This is due to lack of determination in them. It is impossible to get six pack abs in few days; it can only be achieved after few months hard work with full determination.

Sometimes funds are spent on expensive abs gadget and some people take fat burning pills or weight loss supplement to achieve six pack abs. This is the wrong approach. Strict diet, the right kind of exercise and dedication are the keys to get six pack abs. Six packs are covered with a fat layer. That layer is to be removed, if you want them to be noticed.

Caloric intake must be monitored. Increase your protein intake. Eat more meat, soy, pulses, eggs etc. Eat four-five meals instead of big three meals. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water.

Normally people think that crunches are the best exercise to get six pack abs. This is wrong. A few of the right exercises to do are riding bicycle, hanging knee-ups, seated jack knife etc. Also add cardiovascular training to your fitness plan. Don’t spend more than 20-25 minutes on your abdominal work out. An additional benefit is that exercise will even improve your mental health.

You must stick with any sound program chosen. If you don’t see the results in the first few weeks, don’t loose hope. Always keep yourself motivated. Surely, you will get the results in the next few weeks to come and then you can flaunt your six pack abs! Of course a doctor should be consulted before attempting any of these suggestions.
